Stainless Steel Used

Chun Tara Industries manufactures its instruments from certified surgical-grade stainless steel. The grade used depends on the instrument's required hardness, flexibility and corrosion resistance:

• AISI/DIN 410 — A martensitic stainless steel offering a good balance of strength and corrosion resistance; widely used for general surgical and veterinary instruments.
• AISI/DIN 420 — Higher carbon content than 410, giving better hardness and edge retention; commonly used for cutting instruments such as scissors and bone cutters.
• AISI/DIN 440A / 440B / 440C — Higher-carbon martensitic grades used where maximum hardness and a sharp, long-lasting cutting edge are required.
• AISI 316L — An austenitic, non-magnetic, highly corrosion-resistant grade used for implants, holloware and instruments that need extra resistance to repeated sterilization cycles.

All instruments are passivated after manufacturing to remove surface contamination and maximise their resistance to rust and staining under normal clinical and veterinary use.
