Manufacturing Process

Every Chun Tara Industries instrument passes through a disciplined, multi-stage manufacturing process before it reaches a customer:

  1. Raw Material Selection — Surgical-grade stainless steel bar stock (typically AISI 410, 420 or 440 series) is selected based on the instrument's function and required hardness.
  2. Forging & Cutting — Blanks are hot-forged or precision-cut to the rough shape of the instrument.
  3. Milling & Filing — Jaws, teeth, box-joints and other functional features are machined and hand-filed for accurate fit and action.
  4. Hardening & Tempering — Instruments are heat-treated to achieve the correct hardness and spring temper for their intended use.
  5. Grinding & Fitting — Joints are fitted, ratchets and box-locks are set, and cutting edges are ground.
  6. Polishing / Satin & Electro-Polishing — Instruments receive a mirror, satin (matte) or black finish, followed by passivation to maximise corrosion resistance.
  7. Marking — Laser or acid etching adds the article number, logo or customer branding as required.
  8. Final Inspection & Packing — Every piece is visually inspected and function-tested before being cleaned, packed and prepared for shipment.
